            How to choose a fiber laser sheet cutting machine

            Start with three questions: the plate thickness you cut most, the sheet size, and your daily output. Here is where each series fits — our sales team can recommend an exact configuration from your parts.

            Series by requirement

            • First laser, tighter budget: MLX-3015 FIT — 1.5–6 kW, 3000×1500 mm bed, cuts up to 20 mm; enclosure and automatic exchange table as standard, partially dismountable, two units fit in one 40 ft container.
            • Limited floor space, high-mix or prototyping: MLC series — 6 kW, 3050×1530 mm, drawer-type single-pallet loading, carbon steel up to 25 mm.
            • Volume production of medium-thick plate: MLX series — 6 / 12 / 20 kW, beds up to 6×2.5 m, ±0.03 mm positioning, up to 120 m/min, table exchange from 24 s.
            • Thick plate, long plate and bevels: MLG gantry — 20–60 kW, plate up to 80 mm, 13 m or 26 m working length, ±45° 3D bevel cutting.
            • Sheet and tube on one machine: MHLX / MHLS combined systems — 3–20 kW, tubes Ø20–220 mm.

            Choosing laser power

            Power mainly determines cutting thickness and speed. For mostly thin sheet, more power mostly buys speed; if you regularly cut medium-thick plate or want oxide-free edges with nitrogen or air, plan for higher power.

            Automation and software

            Every series runs Midnight's in-house control software with smart piercing and collision protection, and can connect to automatic loading/unloading and SILO² vertical storage as you move toward lights-out production.

            How thick can your sheet lasers cut?

            It depends on model and power: MLX-3015 FIT up to 20 mm, MLC (6 kW) up to 25 mm carbon steel, and the MLG gantry (20–60 kW) up to 80 mm. Actual capacity depends on material, assist gas and edge-quality requirements.

            What is the difference between MLX and MLX-3015 FIT?

            MLX is the high-power production series (6 / 12 / 20 kW, beds up to 6×2.5 m, up to 120 m/min). MLX-3015 FIT is the value model (1.5–6 kW, 3000×1500 mm), also fully enclosed with an automatic exchange table — ideal as a first laser for smaller shops.

            Which machine suits a small workshop?

            The MLC series has a small footprint with drawer-type single-pallet loading and a side door — good for high-mix work and prototyping. MLX-3015 FIT can be partially dismantled for transport and fits easily into existing lines.

            Can one machine cut both sheet and tube?

            Yes. The MHLX / MHLS combined systems cut sheet and process tubes from Ø20 to 220 mm, including round, square, oval and triangular tubes and structural sections.
